Google Analytics and Process
In today's world where different norms had to be changed to cooperate with the current situation of the world , there's one thing which hasn't changed but evolved as it's engagement has risen and that's none other than blogs. With the Internet being a virtual archive anyone can access , there are thousands of blogs almost posted everyday-brimming with its own content. Imagine yourself as one of those blog posters, Wouldn't you want to know how many people had gone through your content in real time? Well that's what I am going to be introducing today - a feature which helps users identify the patterns of engagement of their site.
I will be guiding you through the usage of Google Analytics to show a post's engagement step by step:
- Step1: Copy link of blog.
- Step2: Search Google Analytics.
- Step3: Click on start measuring.
- Step4: An account setup window opens up. Add account name there.
- Step5: Tick all the options given below and click next.
- Step6: Add property name and specify the proper country and timezone below.
- Step7: In the next page, choose the appropriate options from every choice according to your needs.
- Step8: Click create.
- Step9: Select country again.
- Step10: Click I agree , I accept and save.
Note: When choosing the country in Step9 , please note that you should choose accordingly as different countries have different terms and conditions. Before Google used to follow the jurisdictions under US, but changed after small companies located in India won lawsuits against as US laws weren't prevalent in India.
- Step11: Choose the platform to set up the data stream accordingly.
- Step12: Paste the website URL.
- Step13: Add the stream name and create stream.
- Step14: To track the engagement, click the global site tag and copy the tracking code.
- Step15: Paste the tracking code in the blog ( for example, if you are using Blogger, select theme and edit html by clicking on the down arrow icon beside customise option and paste the code in head tag).
- Step16: Go to the Analytics site again after refreshing and go to real time.
The above screen can be screen but with engagement results of users on the site. With the help of the map , we are easily able to identify the amount of users from different places and at which timezones they're the most active in. This way we are able to get control and track control of our site which is very helpful if we're looking forward to concentrate on certain type of content which attracts certain type of users all over the world.
